Trainwreck Cannabis Strain Review 
I will never forget the first time that I tried the Trainwreck cannabis strain. It was the early 2000’s and a family friend had been secretly growing it. When it was finally revealed that he had been cultivating cannabis, I urged him to bring over a sample. When he came into my house at the time, I knew that there was something special in his bag because the room smelled considerably.

When he pulled the cured flower out of his bag, the room instantly filled up with a sweet earthy smell that made my lungs hungry. The flower was covered in trichomes and was super sparkly. The flavor was very dynamic, filling the palate with a somewhat citrusy earthy flavor that stayed on the tongue long after the exhale.
The effects were unbelievable. The Trainwreck strain is a sativa dominant hybrid, tracing its 
lineage to a Mexican sativa, Thai sativa, and an Afghani indica. According to Phylos Bioscience, the Trainwreck strain’s closest relatives are Berry White and Hippy Crippler. I have tried the Berry White, which was superb, but I have never come across Hippy Crippler.
After consuming a couple of bowls of Trainwreck flower for the first time, I was thoroughly baked but was still able to function at a high level. I took a long walk around the town that I was living in and looked at the scenery which I had a new appreciation for because of the Trainwreck. It was one of my favorite strains to consume prior to hiking.
Back then Trainwreck was fairly common, but now seems fairly hard to find in Oregon. According to Phylos, the strain is considered to be rare on the Genetic Novelty Score spectrum. If you are able to get your hands on Trainwreck cannabis seeds consider yourself to be lucky due to the rarity of the genetics.
I cultivated the Trainwreck strain for several years in the 2000’s, and it was one of my favorite strains to grow because it was very hearty. Whereas other plants would be very temperamental, the Trainwreck strain fought through just about everything. It had a high yield, flowered earlier than other strains, and the end harvest was always gorgeous.
